Sounds wild. At least if you need it, you have healthcare available, so at least there's that.  [*laugh*]

Seriously, be who you are and be what you be.

I don't even know if anyone will see this but thought I'd post something to, I dunno, maybe see if there's anyone still floating around... and what better way to do that than with a super unoriginal, "what's going on lately with you?" type of post...

So as for me... I forget the exact date it happened, but sometime in late April my brain went into neutral and I seemed to have blacked out at work. I was in a group virtual meeting (I work remotely) with most of the employees from our small company that afternoon but I don't even recall 95% of what happened in those meetings, or if I even managed to finish those meetings. When I queried others an hour or so later, they said I did finish the meeting but I seemed quite blank at times. Like someone would ask me something and I may not have responded... something like that. Anyhoo, I ended up calling my boss also just to say that I think I blacked out. And once again, I remember very little of the conversation I had with him too but I think I do remember throwing some hysterical fit, like I was out of my mind... and then I couldn't stop crying. There wasn't necessarily anything to cry about... I just couldn't stop as I had no idea what was going on.

I think my wife snatched the phone out of my hands while I was talking to my boss and said she would call an ambulance for me. To which they came, did a few preliminary checks and then carted my ass off to the hospital for further testing. I had blood tests and a brain scan... nothing necessarily came about it. The doctors at the hospital and my GP both individually grilled me with questions about stress - so I guess that's their best educated guess as to what caused it. I have been referred to get an EEG done but I decided to not pursue further unless it happens again. So that was fun.

So not long after that, I did end up taking two weeks off work. I wanted to use that time to catch up on the backlog of editing I need to do for FE YouTube channel but I could never get my head in the right mood to get anything done. I just sat on my ass, and did pretty much fuck-all during those two weeks off. Though I did manage to kickstart my weight loss again, which will hopefully have some sort of mental benefit as I had been pretty depressed lately from regaining basically all of the 27kg (60lbs) I had lost back in 2020. Since 9th May, I have lost around 5kg (11lbs) and showing no signs of slowing down with that.

Anyhoo, I am happy to say that I have finally started editing again. I've challenged myself to edit one movie discussion per day, which is roughly about 1hr of work. So hopefully I can keep it up and clear that backlog within the next few months.

So, uh.... what's going on lately with you?  [*odd*]

Honestly, I'm just happy you're alive, Shadow. My life is void of pretty much everything, giving me more time to devote here, but I certainly understand how a much busier life would make it a lot more difficult to check in every day.

Maybe once things stabilize down the line, and these updates come on through, thinks will improve.

Hope you're doing well, Shadow. [*thumbsup*]

Oh I'm doing just fine... just very busy. Twelve hour work days minimum, and that is on the days that I don't teach. Then compound the regular old life stuff I have to either cram in on the weekends, or weeknights after work- it is mainly just plain hectic. I suppose I don't have to put up with it as much as I do, but work really needs the help... and with the way things are going I figure the extra funds couldn't hurt because who knows what shitshow will be coming next. Didn't plan on waiting for Uncle Sam handouts before this crap started... certainly not going to do it when they can barely string together a proper English sentence.

Still haven't caught this super duper dangerous virus of definite unknown origin that is meant to kill us all, either. At least as far as I'm aware. In fact, I haven't gotten anything outside of basic allergies since before the craze started... and I haven't really changed my lifestyle at all.

Kind of a morbid thought, but I have thought on occasion- how many people did we used to have as members that disappeared actually "disappear"... if you catch my drift? Even before the attack of the sniffles it was something I've wondered.

Quote from: Chucky on February 12, 2022, 02:43:33 AMQuite honestly, the last 6-12 months sucked for me and it's been full of depressing procrastination, though Jiggy and I do meet up usually every 2-3 weeks to watch a movie, discuss it, review it etc and discuss whatever else.

I do want to get things moving again, and I think the past week has shown some new glimmers of hope that I can get back on track.
Yeah it seems like Aus (or at least some places in it) has really been hell in terms of going off the deep end from all this crap... and I'm sure that doesn't even completely factor in just regular life things for you, either. Just means more time for you to get things exactly the way you want them, though... I'm sure there is no big rush.

Now if only some of our other lazy bastard former members would hop back on!

How is this website update coming along, by the way? I'd imagine now you'd have much more headway on how you'd like to have it set up compared to now.

Found my old profile on archive.org it is the same username but my god reading my profile bio is cringe inducing.
I was going to say- your user name seemed awfully familiar. Had to have been used before.

Hey, welcome back. Every now and then someone from the past returns... maybe for a day or two, but then they disappear again. Which I get... but it would be awesome for some oldies to come back and stick around.

Jiggy and I are working on new review formats for the website and for YouTube... so this basically means the website will be redeveloped. Not sure how long it will take, but we do meet up regularly and make progress with each and every session.
I'm definitely guilty of this. Been busy with more OT, more school, and more house stuff... never ends. Makes it easy to put stuff on the backburner with the expectation that there will hardly be any replies, if any at all, upon revisiting after another day or so.  [*cry*]

halloween kills for me

this is a tough one for me to rate
there were parts i really enjoyed and parts im like come on really

like you're gonna walk up on a dude that's trian wrecked half the town with a gun and not take a shot at him from six feet away?

though everyone in the movie had the aim of a storm trooper.

killes were enjoyable and a fun ride overall
but its just so hard when you stack it up to the atmospheric masterpiece that is the original

the Halloween three mask were a nice touch

it was also nice seeing some of the classic characters back

im going to go slightly above average and give a 7  out of 10

ill probably give it a rewatch and see if i change my mind a little
i my have overhyped its expectation just a tad.

Yeah, I wasn't blown away by Halloween Kills. I thought the kills were pretty solid down the line, but some of the story elements just bothered the hell out of me. Gave it an average rating myself.

Great review and thanks for sharing, I had more fun reading your thoughts as I feel they expressed my thoughts more eloquently than I could.
I feel you are right about the duality of the film trying to keep a classic vibe in parts but also going over the top in gore compared to the original.
Unfortunately I don't think we see a restrained slasher movie anymore at least not from Blumhouse or an establish slasher franchise such as Halloween. I feel the new blood coming to these films or at least that which the studio thinks is coming to these films aren't interested in a suspenseful low gore horror movie when they see the name Halloween, Friday, Noes they have blood on their mind.

That is not to say suspenseful horror is dead, rather the studios producing these movies think it is. Anyway enough of my rambles, thanks again for sharing the review mate. ( I also didn't rewatch part 1 prior to watching Halloween Kills)
