Well, I'd suggest the movie stole it from your personal videos, but it's a late 80's film, so I have my doubts they got their hands on your Christmas celebration of 2009.

I thought my random knowledge would help someday. Here's sort of an easy one (and no, it's not one of De's home videos).

I only know of one Chuck Norris horror movie, and that's Silent Rage (1982, I think).

Welcome, FanOfAllHorror, you seem an interesting person, and not bound by a specific genre or decade, like some horror fans are. Nice to make your acquaintance.

I last saw Der Student von Prag (1913):

It's the first full-length horror film ever made (making this year the 100th anniversary of horror movies), and I found it enjoyable. Plot-wise, it's about making a deal with the devil, and the outcomes that has. Very solid film, I thought, and found the last ten minutes or so rather thrilling. One thing that bothered me, however, was that while this is a German movie (Germany made the best silent horror films ever, and in fact was the first country who really had a grip on the horror genre), the print I watched has Italian inter-titles (though subtitled in English), which I found odd, and took about 15 minutes to fully get used to. Anyhow, it's the first horror film ever made, has a decently interesting plot, and it's German. Why wouldn't you want to watch it? 8/10.

These are the silent films I've seen thus far (and I'm in the middle of watching a whole bunch for the next week or so):

Der Student von Prag (1913), The Avenging Conscience: or 'Thou Shalt Not Kill' (1914), Pikovaya dama (1916), Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari. (1920), Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1920), Der müde Tod (1921), Körkarlen (1921), Häxan (1922), Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens (1922), The Headless Horseman (1922), The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923), The Monster (1925), The Phantom of the Opera (1925), The Bat (1926), The Cat and the Canary (1927), The Unknown (1927), The Last Warning (1929)

From my count, that's 17 films so far. If you need any recommendations, I'd suggest watching The Last Warning (1929) - I don't hear many people talk about it, and it's one of my favorite silent films.

Unheimliche Geschichten (1919) [The problem with this film is quite common with anthologies. While some of the stories are quite memorable, a large majority simply are not. It's the earliest horror anthology film I am aware of, but it's simply not amazing.] [5.5/10]

Schatten - Eine nächtliche Halluzination (1923) [This film was very bizarre to watch. It's a silent film of course, but there are zero intertitles (captions) explaining what's going on. Not only were there zero title screens, but there was no music in the background, like most silent movies have. The story itself was sometimes hard to follow due to the lack of intertitles, but it was sort of worth seeing. Would rewatch.] [6/10]

Das Wachsfigurenkabinett (1924) [The main issue with this is that it's not strictly horror. It's an anthology with two stories in it, the first one being fantasy based without any horror elements. It's still fun, mind, but not horror. Ironically, the second story, which does have strong horror elements, was a bit hard for me to follow, and as such, I preferred the first story. The framing story isn't bad, but it doesn't really stand out. The end is sort of cool, however.] [6/10]

Midnight Faces (1926) [This was an awesomely cool mystery/haunted house film. The existing print is very short (about an hour), so it doesn't take up too much time. The location is a house in the middle of a swamp, which someone recently inherits. Or do they? It comes down to the reading of the will, which some parties wish to prevent. It was fun, but it sort of blends in with the countless other films like it. Worth watching, though.] [7.5/10]

Secret of the Blue Room (1933) [This was really fun. A little heard of gem, Secret of the Blue Room deals with a room in a mansion, in which if you sleep in the room, the next morning, you are found dead. A few guys test this out, skeptical, but when deaths start occurring, shit gets real. This was very memorable, and just a great film. The ending was a nice surprise, and greatly helped the rating.] [8.5/10]

Sorry I wasn't here a month ago. I've seen around 15 silent horror films, and am actually watching one right now, so I may know more about them then a lot of people here.

I think a lot of people watch less horror these days, too much quantity, not enough quality.

So why get this place back up again? Sure it's nice seeing all the guys again but none of us are horror fanatics these days. Are you gonna give this place the push it needs to get on the map?

You may be mostly right, but I actually still am a horror fanatic.

Nonetheless, L-Face said it best - even if we don't reach our prior prime, it really is like a second home to a lot of us.

If it's De (of which there seems to be doubt? [*uhoh*]), welcome back.

Luckily it was still on my computer. I am of course the one in black - the man in the middle (in a wheelchair, which can't be seen) is my father, and to his left is my brother.

Shame, I liked my jaw while it lasted.

Most self-proclaimed horror fans haven't seen The Prowler?

They're what's wrong with the world. [*no*]
