Messages - Jigsaw

Indeed, the audience experience in theaters really lowered my enjoyment of the film. I need to watch it alone sometime, though I don't know when I'll manage to do that.

Yeah, I saw Hellraiser: Revelations during October of 2012 (the October Challenge for another site), and I was utterly appalled. I could not believe just how bad that film was.

I've seen some bad films 2010 and up (including La casa muda, Psychosis, Suicide Girls Must Die!, Vampegeddon, Bag of Bones, Remains, The Passing, American Horror House, Haunted High, and Jersey Shore Shark Attack), but Revelations just destroyed all hope that Hellraiser could perhaps pop back up to being a well-loved horror series.

I didn't receive an e-mail either, but I was stalking Chucky on FaceBook.

Jasonz, I followed you on twitter a little while ago, so if you weren't back soon, I was going to contact you anyways.

Kash, it's fantastic to see you once more also. Hope you are doing well.

Obviously, members are slowly trickling on and rejoining, so I think that within a few weeks to a month we'll have everyone back who intends to come back.

I began this thread so we could see how certain sections of this site are coming along, and more so, maybe if people have suggestions of what they'd like to see, they could post them here for Chucky to see. I hope I don't seem like I'm above my station with this thread, but it's never too early to start discussing where we're headed.

First off, I think the thing that makes Fight Evil a unique site, and why I originally joined all those years ago, were the fights between horror icons. Were you intending to bring back the fights when possible, and if so, holding a draft to gauge what characters would be representing?

Also, I know movies reviews were discussed. I'll be honest and say that while I watch many horror films, I'm still not great at writing full reviews for movies. If anyone recalls, I had a own, sort of private section where I reviewed horror films in a much less grandeur fashion ("Jiggy's Corner of Horrors," or something to that effect). As soon as we get some classic threads back, such as "What's the last horror movie you watched?" and such, I'll see whether or not I need a thread of my own.

This isn't as important in my opinion, but another unique factor about this site was the Chat Room (which was an actual chat room - not just a thread were we talked about life). Now, I don't know how realistic it is that we can have another one, but if demand is high enough, maybe it should be discussed as an option for a future time.

Also, Movie of the Week was sort of suffering toward the end, but I think once we get about 50 members, and interest is high, that maybe we should continue that. I was sort of running it toward the end of it's run, and would have no qualms in doing so again if we decide to bring it back, but I wouldn't mind if someone else decided to take over.

The site itself is looking good (Member list if nice, and everything is simple and laid out), and I sense a great future.

It's great to see people coming back so quickly, and I hope that everyone makes it when possible. Well done, Chucky - you brought us back to life.

(Don't know if videos can be posted yet, and even if they can, I was never great with that, so I'll just post this link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xos2MnVxe-c)

DeraiLer (aka "Hey, you in the bushes") is serving a jail sentence of two years for perverted reasons.

As sad as this is, I can fully believe the validity of this story.

Haven't seen Insidious, and I've heard pretty mixed things about it. Cabin in the Woods seems to be well-received (even by fans of horror films and not just the mainstream crowds), so that's one I've been meaning to finally watch.

Indeed, I can only imagine watching Rare Exports when tired - I doubt I'd be able to stay awake. It's an acquired taste, I admit, but I guess it caught me in a good mood, as I loved it so much.

Any giant life-style changes going on?

Anyone married? Anyone gay? That type of stuff.

Most of you may be aware, but currently I am a freshman in college and slowly getting used to the college style of living.

I'll start with 2010:

Akmareul boatda (aka I Saw the Devil) was a pretty pleasurable experience. Quite violent, and aside from a subplot or two, I found the film rather well-done.

Devil (the people trapped in an elevator movie with the Devil) was one that surprised me - I expected to dislike it (or at least be less than thrilled by it), but once I saw it, it came as a pleasant surprise.

Piranha (the remake) was another shocker - for the most part, I really enjoyed it.

Rare Exports (from Finland) was a fantastic film. Not quite horror (really), but just scary enough to be considered horror. 'Twas a unique film indeed, and I gave it a 10/10. Finland's doing it right.

Wai dor lei ah yut ho (aka Dream Home - from Hong Kong) was a semi-confusing (what Asian horror film isn't?) albeit gory and enjoyable film. Recommended.

With 2011, Final Destination 5 is the only horror film I saw that really stood out to me. Well, Hellrasier: Revelations stood out, but for a different reason. :(

And the only film I saw in theaters last year was The Woman in Black (remake of a 1989 made for television film), and while the movie was decent, the audience experience made me regret going. Aside from that, a few Sy-Fy movies stood out as being enjoyable, those being Black Forest, Ghoul, and Leprechaun's Revenge (no relation to the Warwick Davis films).

(And yes, I'm still keeping track of every horror film I watch)

Great to see you both. Can't believe you still have that picture, Shadow. ;)

Horror Talk / Best Horror Films of the Last Three Years

Since FE has been down for a while, I thought it'd be nice to discuss some of the newer films that we've not had the chance to talk about.

In short, what do you think are some of the finest horror films to come out recently? I'll be composing my list and post it in time.

Jigsaw here - hope I'm mostly remembered. Sketchy history, made a comeback, became a decently big contributor, etc. It's fantastic to be back on. Shape, I believe I remember you, and it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance once again.
