Horror Talk / Camp Twilight (2020)
December 09, 2020, 09:27:56 AM
I don't think that Camp Twilight is by any means a horrible film, but I do think that despite some promising performances from the younger actors and actresses, the story here is pretty generic and really not something that I think will stand out.

Have you set your peepers on this flick?

While Crash might not be able to choose (and I know that choosing between two great movies can be an unenviable position), I find Aliens all-around a more solid film.

Alien does a lot of things right, and I rate it pretty highly, but Aliens changes directions beautifully and it works out to it's benefits. It may not have the entirely same feel of suspense that the first has, but it more than makes up for it.

Watched a lot of movies in October, reconnected with a long-lost friend, and finally found Jesus, so a pretty quality time.

Hope your holidays went well also. [*thumbsup*]

I use Discord all the time, so this may not be a bad idea.

Pretty easy to set up too, though I've not personally made a private room before. I think, though, once you do, you can send the room link to anyone (which is the invite), and they shouldn't have a problem getting on it.

The mutilator 1984 aka fall break
really wanted to like this one it had some good points  and some decent gore but overall fell flat
it had a score that tried to mix in some up beat music that just didnt work, had a very slow start  and some glaring plot holes and wtf moments that just couldn't be overlooked    4/10

I wouldn't have rated it quite this low, but I do agree that the one time I saw that movie, it sort of missed the mark. I didn't think it was terrible, but I was definitely expecting more from an 80's slasher of somewhat higher notice.

You know what, I actually follow Lyrici17 on last.fm (a music tracking site I've been a member of for years), though I've not spoken to him in some time. I knew that name sounded familiar.

Indeed, I'm "luckily" an essential worker, so I've been enjoying the privilege of going to and from my workplace throughout this whole thing. Good, good times. :P

I recognize the name, but I honestly couldn't pick him out of a line-up. Nice to know that you're still kicking, though.  [*thumbsup*]

How you been?

Slumber Party Massacre is a lot of fun. I personally hate the second one, but the third one's pretty competent. Nothing near as fun as the first movie, though. Glad you dug it.

Horror Talk / Re: Best Movie In a Horror Series
June 30, 2020, 06:09:14 AM
This is actually an interesting topic. Shame I saw it only seven years late.  [*hehehmm*]

Friday The 13th - Long thought that the fourth one (The Final Chapter) was the best. The second is pretty good, but I think the fourth is just all around the most solid.

Halloween - The original is an easy 10/10, so despite some great sequels (the second and fourth), have to go with the first one.

A Nightmare On Elm Street - The first movie, though the third film (Dream Warriors) is a very solid contender.

Saw - The first movie, pretty easily.

Scream - The first movie, another easy one. Scream 4 was pretty decent also, though.

Alien - Always been a proponent of Aliens being the best. After finally seeing the third and fourth movie, I can pretty much confirm Aliens as my favorite.

Predator - Have to go with the first movie, though it's worth noting I've not seen the 2018 movie.

Phantasm - Phantasm II is pretty good, but the first movie has an unbeatable atmosphere, so the first, definitely.

Evil Dead - Never been a big fan of this series. Have to go with the second one.

Child's Play - I have a three-way split between the first, second, and Curse of Chucky. I give each one an 8.5/10. Guess I'll go with the first, since it started it all.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - I'm an odd duck, and I find Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III the most enjoyable. It should be noted I've not seen the Next Generation, but I highly doubt that'd usurp my love for the third movie.

Hellraiser - The first movie, though Hellbound: Hellraiser II is a very solid sequel.

Final Destination - Final Destination 5 is my favorite Final Destination movie. After the fifth, I'd probably go the first movie.

Paranormal Activity - Only seen two of these so far, and they're abominable.

Horror Talk / Night School (1981)
June 30, 2020, 05:53:22 AM
While the kills are occasionally decent in this one, for the most part, I find Night School an underwhelming movie. It's perhaps worth a single watch, but I have a hard time imagining this one becoming anyone's new favorite.

What are your thoughts on this slasher?

Horror Talk / Triangle (2009)
June 30, 2020, 05:44:06 AM
When is a circle an oval? Triangle.

If you were in a loop and told you could break the loop by yourself (who obviously hasn't broken the loop, since you're still in the loop), how would that make any logical sense at all?
