Bloodsport (1988)
Review by Bradley Frohloff

I find that Jean-Claude Van Damme's two best films both came from early in his career, one is Kickboxer and the other is Bloodsport. While this movie is based on a real person (Frank Dux), I am unsure of to what extent the true events are stretched in this film. How much is true and how much fiction has been padded in to make it a movie? Either way, it is definitely one of the most entertaining martial arts films out there.
There are some fondly cheesy tunes and some corny acting at times, including from Van Damme, but it is all a part of its charm and why it's such an enjoyable film. Bolo Yeung also makes for a great villain in this flick.
