Miami Connection (1987)
Review by Bradley Frohloff

6 / 10
It starts off pretty good with decent ninja action and showing limbs being chopped off. However, I feel the movie takes a downward turn for the next hour which includes some pretty laughable and dull acting with scenes that take way more time than is necessary. In fact, there's plenty of unnecessary scenes throughout. It's like they wrote a 30 minute movie and stretched it into a full length feature.

The editing is all over the place, clearly there were re-shoots and scenes that were spliced together from multiple different takes. On one hand it adds to the charm and steers it towards being one of those "it's so bad, it's good" type of movies but on the other hand it also looks like a mess. Once the ninja action returns toward the end, the movie picks up again in terms of entertainment value with some silly fight sequences and more violence (and a bit of gore).

I didn't enjoy the movie as much as I would have liked as a whole but I think there is potential for me to raise my score when I give it another chance. I can see some value as to why this movie has a cult fan base, I guess I just need more time to appreciate it.
