This is one of those movies that walks a fine line as to whether or not it belongs on this website. At face value, it comes across as a fairly typical comedic drama, especially when you consider the movie opens and closes with a song that makes you feel like you've been shopping for a training bra. However, it starts off with murder, the devil turns up a few times and it is a fucked-up movie if you really think about it.

I feel compelled to tell you something that happens in the movie which pretty much justifies why I've considered it worthy of reviewing on this website (outside of the murder, devil etc being in the movie) so if you don't want any spoilers, skip the rest of this paragraph. The most fucked up thing that happens is that the man who is sent back to Earth as a woman (and while appears as a woman, has his manly mind from his previous life) ends up getting impregnated by his best friend and they get married. That's some messed up shit.

So yeah, now that I've clarified why I'm reviewing this, lets break the rest down real quick. The acting overall is okay, Ellen Barkin is quite cute at times despite the constant struggle of a woman playing a man playing a woman. The devil only shows up in two quick scenes, and it's not the most demonic interpretation that we've ever seen, so it's not a scary movie in the slightest, just a fucked up one.

Switch is the type of movie you may have rented out on home video for a boring weekend of nothingness. It's okay, it's corny at times and definitely messed up at times, I'm glad I watched it. I don't know if I'll ever watch it again though.
