Pet Sematary is a decent remake and does a few things differently to the original movie but in terms of overall enjoyment, it's more or less about as enjoyable as the original movie.

I appreciate that you go see these new movies (both this one and Us). Given that I almost never go to the theaters, it's good that we have someone here who actually partakes in freshly-released horror flicks. 

As it is, I've not read the novel either (one of the many King books I've not gotten to yet). I do know that I really didn't care for the 1989 movie, though, so hopefully, when I do get around to this one, it does a bit more for me.
