Yeah, "Sawhead" got a chuckle out of me.

I'm very, very late for this, but I watched Hellraiser for the first time yesterday.

Holy shit, that movie's scary.

EDIT: And now I just watched The Cabin in The Woods. Damn, that was awesome. It was like Evil Dead meets Hellraiser meets Cube meets Hunger Games Battle Royale meets Dollhouse meets the Cthulhu Mythos.
Fixed that for you.

I meant in the sense that they control the entire environment. Do they do that in Battle Royale as well?

Glad you enjoyed Hellraiser. I would definitely watch the 2nd, then maybe the 3rd. For the love of god stop there, though.

I find 5 to be good and 6 worth it when I'm in the right mood.  4... is okay, just extremely slow.  7-9 though, don't bother.

The thing with the Hellraiser films -
1. Torture porn for the '80s
2. Stop the bad guy gore film
3. Slasher
4. Story-focused Sci-Fi with horror elements
5. Mystery thriller with fantasy/horror elements
6. Slasher with mystery thriller elements

I would have to watch 7 and 8 and pay more attention to classify them, which I'm not wont to do

9. Terrible remake with found footage elements

Sorry Jz, but I'm bound by a contract to slap anybody who says "torture porn".  [*slap*]

What I liked about the first one was that the Cenobites were not necessarily evil. They had a twisted lifestyle of pain, pleasure, and overall new sensations seeking. They sort of imposed it on people who solved the box, but still.

From what I read, in some sequels, Pinhead becomes a villain who wants to conquer the world and inflict suffering on everyone. Idf that's true, it sort of ruins the purpose and creepiness of the first movie.

That only happens in hellraiser 3. It was needed though. Pinhead needed to give more of a reason to fear him outside of just opening the box

Re-animator.

Wow, that was a fun, creepy movie. There's some shit in it you have to see to believe.

Insidious: Chapter 2. It was alright but i preferred the first chapter. Giving the bride in black a backstory kind of took away from the scare factor because it made the villain feel much more human and understandable.

I watched George A. Romero's "Dawn of the Dead". (1978)
I bought the box set with all the versions. This one I watched was the Theatrical Version.
It was amazing even through it was a late 1970s horror flick.

I'm curious if Buffy the Vampire Slayer counts. It probably counts more than some of the movies that have been listed here throughout the years.

I honestly don't remember the last time I watched a horror movie for the first time, though. I should do something about that.
