Horror Talk / Needful Things (1993)
October 01, 2019, 05:53:17 PM
If you want to enjoy this interesting story, read King's novel. If you don't mind spitting in the face of fans, though, the movie works out perfectly.

What do you think about this utter insult?

Horror Talk / Candyman: Day of the Dead (1999)
October 01, 2019, 05:41:48 PM
This is even more pointless than the second Candyman, and while they upped the gore and nudity, I can't say much in this movie really appealed to me.

What do you think about the third Candyman film?

Horror Talk / Stripped to Kill (1987)
September 27, 2019, 06:30:08 AM
Stripped to Kill is a movie that's probably better than it should be. It sort of fails as a slasher, what with having few kills (of any sort), but I will admit to loving the mystery and conclusion, not to mention the hot babes baring it all for my sole pleasure. Hubba hubba.

What's your opinion on strippers?  [*browwink*]

Horror Talk / The Four Skulls of Jonathan Drake (1959)
September 27, 2019, 06:25:16 AM
While sometimes hokey, this late 50's flick feels ahead of the times (see what I did there - because 'head' and 'skull'????) and comes across as a lot of fun. Certainly an above-average film, The Four Skulls of Jonathan Drake was well worth the two watches.

What do you think about this late 50's fright flick?

Horror Talk / Dead Snow (2009)
September 27, 2019, 06:15:46 AM
This Norwegian movie is decent, but I do believe I liked it more the first few times I saw it as opposed to now. The gore's great, and many of the characters are fun, but I wasn't really blown away. I'd place this around average, and it's worth at least one view.

Horror Talk / Hellbent (2004)
September 27, 2019, 06:10:43 AM
This LGBT-oriented slasher is generally by-the-numbers, with some technical issues (lighting and bloodless decapitations) and a few story problems holding it back. It's an average film, but I think it could have been quite better.

Any thoughts on this slasher?

Horror Talk / Swamp Shark (2011)
September 19, 2019, 02:46:17 AM
The special effects are poor in this Syfy flick, as is much of the story. The only reason Swamp Shark sort of works is because the cast of characters are worth watching. It's not a particularly good movie, but I think it's somewhat enjoyable, though certainly below average.

Any thoughts on this Syfy shark shindig?

Other Movies / Se7en (1995)
September 16, 2019, 05:12:39 AM
Se7en is a great gritty crime flick with fantastic performances and a pretty engaging story. Only downside being some aspects of the conclusion, but overall, this is very much a movie worth watching.

What did you think about this one?

Horror Talk / The Orphanage (2007)
September 16, 2019, 05:06:40 AM
This Spanish flick packs an emotional punch at times, and really comes across as a movie that works potentially better as a drama than horror. That said, we got some pretty decent scenes throughout, and the ending is solid.

What are your thoughts on this Spanish movie?

Other Movies / The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
September 13, 2019, 08:44:30 AM
This is a solid movie with an engaging story and interesting characters. Which you probably already know, as you've seen this movie at least five times on late night AMC reruns.

What are yours thoughts on this 1990's classic?

Horror Talk / Ginger Snaps (2000)
September 10, 2019, 06:35:40 AM
Ginger Snaps isn't a perfect movie, but it's definitely one of the best werewolf movies in the last century. Honestly, competition isn't high, but that's beside the point. The relationship between the sisters is very believable, and I really enjoy their scenes together. Solid movie, solid plot, and definitely a movie worth watching.

What do you think about the best werewolf movie eva, brah?

Horror Talk / Ominous (2015)
September 10, 2019, 06:31:39 AM
Ominous is a poor movie with a story that's entirely uninspired, and certainly isn't worth a watch outside of a few ridiculously silly kills.

What do you think about this made-for-TV flick?

Horror Talk / The Abominable Dr. Phibes (1971)
September 10, 2019, 06:28:47 AM
I've seen this one many times, and while I enjoy the humor and Vincent Price, I never found myself really loving this movie. It's certainly worth a watch, as it has a vibe that few other horror films do (a portion of this might be due to the era this came out), but it's not a favorite.

What do you think about this Vincent Price flick?

Horror Talk / Rogue (2007)
September 09, 2019, 05:37:53 AM
While a decent film, I thought that Rogue dragged at times, causing some mild disinterest toward the ending of the film. It didn't help that the finale went on a bit long, but at the same time, the film did well with it's characters, and overall, while average, is probably worth seeing.

What do you think about this Australian flick?

Howling II is a goofy, rather terrible film with very little in it to really appeal to me. Christopher Lee is about the only thing to really watch this for, and even he only makes it a little more bearable. Otherwise, it's really not something I could imagine watching again for fun.

What are your thoughts on this Howling sequel?

Horror Talk / Scream (1996)
September 09, 2019, 12:21:22 AM
Scream is an enjoyably enjoyable film that one can enjoy many times, as it's enjoyable.

What are your thoughts on this classic slasher?

Horror Talk / Darkness Falls (2003)
September 09, 2019, 12:12:38 AM
Darkness Falls is a rather unenjoyable film that's overly shallow and tepid. There was certainly potential here, but they were unable to capitalize on it. In short, this movie is a waste of time.

What are your thoughts on this waste of time?

Horror Talk / The Poughkeepsie Tapes (2007)
September 04, 2019, 06:39:31 PM
The Poughkeepsie Tapes is decent in the moment, but I don't think it's particularly memorable or has the staying power one might expect from a found footage movie of this nature. Might be worth one go, but any more is overkill.

Mediocre found footage, amiright or amiright?  [*hehehmm*]

Horror Talk / Two Evil Eyes (1990)
September 04, 2019, 06:31:46 PM
What do you get when you add one solid story, with the feeling of an Amicus classic, with a subpar piece of shit? Unfortunately, a subpar experience overall, which is a shame, as the first story really is decent.

What are your thoughts on this flick?

Horror Talk / One Dark Night (1982)
September 04, 2019, 06:19:33 PM
One Dark Night isn't an 80's classic, but it is a slice of (mostly) harmless fun. There's some slow build-up in the film, but the atmosphere is reasonably enjoyable and some of the central characters are worth watching for.

What do you think about this movie called One Dark Night?
