Horror Talk / Haunt (2019)
December 16, 2019, 04:17:29 AM
Boy, Haunt was disappointing. It's a decently high-quality movie that had solid tension and suspense through the first half, but once we find out about the individuals running the house, Haunt pretty much loses all steam save for an emotional flashback at the end.

What do you think about this frightening new film?

Horror Talk / Sleepaway Camp (1983)
December 16, 2019, 04:02:14 AM
Sleepaway Camp's never been my favorite camp-centered slasher (both The Burning and Friday the 13th come to mind on that front), but it's obviously a cult classic for a reason, and the kills are mostly solid.

What do you think about Sleepaway Camp?

Horror Talk / Blood Diner (1987)
December 13, 2019, 06:02:40 PM
Blood Diner seems to have it's fans, but I don't really see how. The movie's comedic style is way to silly for me personally, and though I like some of the low-budget gore effects, it was very much a struggle to sit through again.

Your thoughts on this late 80's classic?

Horror Talk / Better Watch Out (2016)
December 13, 2019, 10:43:37 AM
This movie turned out to be better than I expected, and that's in part due to the surprising turns Better Watch Out takes. I'd not go as far as to call the movie amazing, but I did find myself liking quite a bit about it, from performances to the story.

Your thoughts on this Christmas-themed horror?

Horror Talk / Creepshow 2 (1987)
December 13, 2019, 10:37:11 AM
While nowhere near as good as the first Creepshow, I think there's enough charm here to keep most people happy. That is, unless you're predisposed to dislike anthology films, which would be a sad way to live.  [*hehehmm*]

What do you think about this sequel?

Horror Talk / Dorm of the Dead (2006)

Dorm of the Dead is shit, but it's a fun type of shit.  [*odd*]

Your thoughts on this rather terrible flick?

Horror Talk / The Brood (1979)
December 12, 2019, 11:02:13 AM
I'm not a big fan of many Cronenberg movies, partially because I'm not into body horror, so The Brood didn't really get me going. There are aspect about the film I like, but the story's just too out there for me, and come the finale, I just didn't love it that much.

Your thoughts on this Cronenberg flick?

Horror Talk / Curtains (1983)
December 10, 2019, 06:23:59 PM
I used to like this Canadian slasher a bit more than I do now. It had a solid atmosphere at times, but there's not that many interesting, fleshed out characters or memorable kills here to really warrant that much attention in my view.

What do you think about Curtains?

Horror Talk / Bloody New Year (1987)
December 09, 2019, 01:04:48 AM
Bloody New Year, above all else, is a strange flick. Unfortunately, it's not really that memorable, despite feeling like a silly British version of Poltergeist at times, and while this off-beat film has moments, I don't think Bloody New Year is like to be anyone's favorite of the 1980's.

You thoughts on this British obscurity?

Horror Talk / Children of the Corn (1984)
December 09, 2019, 12:47:40 AM
I really think this film's a lot better than people sometimes give it credit for, and personally, I always found it an enjoyable film. Solid atmosphere, really interesting idea touching on the dangers of extremist religious beliefs, and decent kills, Children of the Corn is a fun movie.

Horror Talk / Stage Fright (2014)
December 06, 2019, 06:35:19 PM
I really wish Stage Fright was better than it is. There aren't that many horror/musicals out there, and this certainly had the potential to be better. The film looks nice, and there are some decent actresses and actors, but with only two catchy songs and not much in the kill department, I find this one quite underwhelming.

What are your thoughts on Stage Fright?

Horror Talk / House (1977)
December 06, 2019, 06:30:29 PM
Hausu is a wild ride that defies explanation. It's possibly too zany and off-beat to attract much more than a niche audience, but I've been consistently amused (and amazed) each time I've seen this, and it's really something that should be experienced once, especially if horror-comedy is your thing.

What are your thoughts on this zany Japanese film?

Horror Talk / Slender Man (2018)
December 03, 2019, 07:23:24 AM
To be honest, while I don't think Slender Man's a good film, I don't really think it's as awful as some reviewers tend to say. It's not good, nor close to average, but I do like many of the performances and parts of the story. The second half of the plot, along with quite shitty CGI at times, makes the film more forgettable than anything.

Thoughts on this soon-to-be-classic flick?

Horror Talk / Hide and Go Shriek (1988)
December 03, 2019, 07:17:16 AM
Hide and Go Shriek is a slasher film that has always entertained me, and as I've seen it something like four times now, you know it has staying power.

What thoughts have you on this late 80's slasher flick?

Horror Talk / Alone in the Dark (1982)
December 03, 2019, 07:12:25 AM
Personally, I really like Alone in the Dark. It's a movie with a great cast, fun story, and a fun twisty-twist.

What are your thoughts on this 80's slasher?

Horror Talk / The Dead Pit (1981)
November 30, 2019, 11:29:47 PM
Sadly underrated, I personally find The Dead Pit a very worthwhile movie, and while it's not perfect, I do think there are quite a few good things about it, from the engaging, nine-minute opening to the creepy setting.

What do you think about this demon/zombie/slasher flick?

Horror Talk / The Children (2008)
November 30, 2019, 11:23:00 PM
Save one performance and the decently cool setting, I really don't think The Children has much to offer. I've seen this British film twice now, and maybe I'm missing it, but I don't see how this is remarkable in any way whatsoever. Save your time and spending it counting stars or something.

What's your viewpoint on this British flick?

Horror Talk / Satan's Little Helper (2004)
November 28, 2019, 04:13:16 AM
Though not even my favorite horror comedy from 2004, Satan's Little Helper is a decent amount of fun with an enjoyable cast and a somewhat unique story. It's not perfect, but it could possibly make a solid addition to anyone's Halloween movie viewing.

What's your thoughts on this cult classic?

Horror Talk / My Bloody Valentine (1981)
November 28, 2019, 04:05:13 AM
Is this the best slasher ever made aside from Halloween? Yes.

Do you agree or are you wrong? [*hehehmm*]

Seriously, though, what do you think of My Bloody Valentine?

Horror Talk / The Prowler (1981)
October 01, 2019, 06:03:15 PM
While The Prowler is lacking in a few aspects, the gore is top-notch (Savini at his best) and the atmosphere is to die for[*hehehmm*] Very solid slasher, and definitely worth a few watches if 80's slashers are your thing.

What do you think about The Prowler?
