Horror Talk / Halloween (2007)
March 18, 2018, 09:10:40 AM
I didn't utterly hate this film, but the first fifty minutes are a challenge, and past that point, there's not enough to bring the film anywhere near above average. Decent gore sequences aside, there's not much to recommend here.

What did you think of Zombie's take on this classic film?

Horror Talk / Some Kind of Hate (2015)
March 17, 2018, 05:20:33 PM
While the first thirty minutes of this flick are pretty enjoyable, the movie loses steam rather quickly past a certain point, and the end product really didn't amount to much, despite the well-done job of some of the main actors.

What say you on this supernatural horror film?

Horror Talk / Night Howl (2017)
March 17, 2018, 12:46:21 PM
Michael Taylor Pritt's fourth low-budget outing, Night Howl deeply improves upon his previously flicks, helped greatly by the efforts of Alana Mullins, who's character is deeply fun. While certainly not overly unique, Night Howl is a good film if you're into lower-budget stuff.

Have you come across this newer werewolf flick?

Horror Talk / Stanley (1972)
March 17, 2018, 12:34:31 PM
Though far more sluggish than what one would hope for, this character driven flick occasionally brings us some entertaining kills, along with a lot of snakes. Worth noting, seeing the extended version (105 minutes) may help the experience over the more common 90-minute version.

Have you chanced upon this snake-fueled horror flick?

Horror Talk / Idle Hands (1999)
March 15, 2018, 10:07:43 AM
While certainly possessing more than a few drawbacks (scenes that were a tad too silly), there's still plenty in this movie to lend the viewer an enjoyable experience, be it occasionally frightening scenes or a moderately interesting plot.

What did you think of this horror/comedy hybrid?

Horror Talk / Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956)
March 15, 2018, 09:54:44 AM
An all-in-all amazing movie, Invasion of the Body Snatchers does a great job at exposing the horror one can feel in conformity, and almost flawless in execution, this horror/science-fiction flick is easily within the top horror films of the 1950's.

What say you on this classic movie?

Horror Talk / The Presence (2014)
March 13, 2018, 04:54:22 AM
This German found-footage flick has little to offer that you can't get from countless other found-footage flicks. Somes scenes occasionally might show promise, but really, there's nothing you can get here you can't get from a slew of other movies.

Have you had the chance to witness this film?

Horror Talk / The Mangler (1995)
March 13, 2018, 04:29:01 AM
This may not be the poorest adaptation of a story of Stephen King's, but it's certainly note-worthy in that well-known names (Robert Englund, Tobe Hooper) crafted a movie so mediocre.

Have you had the misfortune to witness this film?

Horror Talk / Isle of the Dead (2016)
March 12, 2018, 03:23:13 AM
A run-of-the-mill zombie flick, Isle of the Dead's one highlight, D.C. Douglas, can't do enough to save this utter mess of a film.

Have you seen this atrocity?

Horror Talk / The Snow Creature (1954)
March 12, 2018, 03:11:21 AM
Even with it's short run-time, The Snow Creature comes across as overly tedious and is a true task to sit through without nodding off. A rather unflattering example of what otherwise is a decently solid decade of horror.

Have you seen this otherwise forgettable addition to the horror genre from the 50's?

Horror Talk / Iced (1988)
March 11, 2018, 03:02:46 AM
A late 80's addition to the slasher genre, I couldn't help but love this low-quality attempt. In many ways, the movie is definitely shoddy; on the other hand, many of the kills are certainly worth it. Perhaps this'd only appeal to fans of slasher flicks at the time, but I rather enjoyed it despite it's flaws.

Pray tell, what did you think of this snow-bound slasher?

Horror Talk / Ghosts Don't Exist (2010)
March 11, 2018, 03:01:59 AM
This is one of those more mildly obscure flicks that came out in the last ten years that might be worth a look, especially should you be a fan of horror flicks with a more supernatural angle.  While certainly not amazing, Ghosts Don't Exist was definitely not a waste of time, and seems a good movie to pass the time with.

Have you stumbled across this flick, and if so, what did you think?

Horror Talk / Dead & Buried (1981)
March 10, 2018, 06:03:33 AM
Sadly overlooked, this moody, early 80's flick really takes the audience for a ride, leading to a grand conclusion and fantastically memorable finale.

Have you happened to see this fantastic piece of 80's horror cinema?

Horror Talk / Cujo (1983)
March 10, 2018, 06:00:24 AM
This adaptation of the classic Stephen King novel certainly has some charm, but the drama-filled portions really weighs down what otherwise is an enjoyable and tense film about a rabid dog and a car that won't start.

If you've seen this adaptation of King's novel, what were your thoughts?

Horror Talk / One Body Too Many (1944)
March 09, 2018, 06:15:34 AM
Possessing many of the staples of the horror genre at the time, the comedic murder mystery One Body Too Many runs a bit over-long, but still ends up a fun and occasionally amusing flick.

Pray tell, what do you think about this 1940's horror/comedy hybrid?

Horror Talk / Ghost Rig (2003)
March 09, 2018, 06:13:01 AM
While not a particularly original film, Ghost Rig (or The Devil's Tattoo) does a decent job for a low quality British flick, and you can certainly pass the night with it if need be.

Have you seen this early 2000's British film?

Horror Talk / Wolves at the Door (2016)
March 08, 2018, 12:50:09 AM
Elizabeth Henstridge (an actress most known for her role on Agent's of S.H.I.E.L.D.) is perhaps the only reason to see this otherwise soulless home invasion flick, which is better done by movies such as the French flick Ils (2006) and The Strangers (2008).

If you've happened to see this flick, what are your thoughts on it?

Horror Talk / Thir13en Ghosts (2001)
March 08, 2018, 12:47:49 AM
This updated version of the 1960 William Castle classic certainly has some good things going for it, be it setting or ghost design, but overall, it feels rather shallow and lacking.

What say you on this modern retelling of the 1960's classic?

#359
Horror Talk / Spiders (2000)
March 08, 2018, 12:38:23 AM
While certainly a low-quality flick, overall, I found Spiders a moderately enjoyable (if not rather ridiculous at times) movie. Certainly not something I'd go out of my way to find, but catching it on Sy-Fy might not go all that amiss.

Is this a modern-age monster movie you've happened to see?

Horror Talk / Hostel (2005)
March 06, 2018, 06:31:06 AM
Eli Roth's controversial second horror film definitely doesn't hold back on gore or unsympathetic characters who get what's coming to them, but it doesn't quite hit the peak of what makes a movie great, despite excellent scenes of brutal torture.

What say you on this violent horror flick that shocked a generation?
