Horror Talk / Re: What is Wes Craven's New Nightmare?

I always just took it at face value and went with the alternate universe. But I can see the point of the whole Inception idea.

I don't even think Wes Craven knew what it was either.  [*hehehmm*]

Then again...

I think we're all in basic agreement when it comes to this whole sexual harassment thing being a phase. But I do think that it's quickly started to turn into a modern day version of McCarthyism- point the finger and watch them crumble, whether or not the allegations have merit or even evidence. Trial and jury be damned. I actually think that can have very nasty effects for everyone down the road. I really don't think social media has helped the issue much either... but then again I don't view social media very positively to begin with.

As far as my opinion and all the drama what I would really like to see is some actual integrity ([*laugh*]) on the part of all parties involved. I have no problem with the news, or one side or the other being at least partially biased. That's human nature. But, at the very least, be up front about it. What I find completely infuriating are the people/groups that claim to be beacons of truth and morality, condemning the other side- then once their side is caught red handed they try to explain it away, if not outright ignore it. Right now it seems to be mounting much more on the Dems side than the GOP, but they're both dirty. Quite frankly I think both sides would do well to take their guiltiest and collectively throw them all under the biggest bus they can find.

As far as Moore's politics- I think he's simply an unfortunate symptom of the times. Things are much more "us vs them" now than they've possibly ever been. All thanks to the politicization of everything. Each side would rather completely ignore the other side and get their guy in, however bad they might be, because not only is the other side wrong- they're damn near evil and want to destroy your life.

Man, the Targs just really love boning each other. Even continents and zombie hordes won't stop them.

Unfortunately.

Well off of the original topic, but completely in the same political vein- what do you think about all the drama bombs that have been going off on both sides lately? Menendez, Paul, Moore, Franken (now, apparently)... the myriad of Hillary/DNC leaks. Lots of juicy stuff has gone on since this thread started up.

Seems like the only political-related news I've seen lately that I thought was kind of nice was Scalice challenging people to wheelchair races.

The series is really good up to this point, I think. The cast has done a very good job and the make-up/effects are really good all things considering. It's one of those shows on Netflix that if you start watching it you may just end up binging on it all without realizing.

I really like(d?) TWD but as the seasons have gone on I've kind of been burned out on it a bit- group gets together, things go relatively smoothly, end of the season comes around and someone/group comes around and screws up paradise, everyone gets split up/killed, rinse and repeat ad nauseam since Season 1. I can only take so much of the same stuff before I get tired.

American Horror Story goes it is more hit than miss, I'd say. Some seasons are pretty good while others are mediocre. I admittedly haven't seen the past two seasons or so. But I have always liked how each season they change the premise and characters around completely. It's almost the exact opposite of TWD, in that regard.

Lordy... this just shows me how much I've been slacking when it comes to watching horror movies. I really ought to get back in the groove of things again.

Well now that season two has come and gone- has anyone had a chance to watch it? What'd you all think?

I was finally able to finish it off yesterday. I'd say they did a really good job once again... at least on par with the first season. And apparently they're for sure going to do a third season that will ideally culminate in a season four or five series finale. Good news all around, in my opinion. [*yes*]

I hadn't realized that it was already out- still on my list of things to watch. Complete aside but I saw The Foreigner, though. I like that one quite a bit. [*yes*]

Saw Blade Runner yesterday... did not care for it. Too many unnecessary scenes, should have been shortened by an hour. Quite a convoluted movie. Not impressed.

It was alright, but I do agree. I really liked the cinematography of it, though.

But back on the topic of IT, I have already seen it twice and might even go a third time. I think it's that good.
I did enjoy it quite a bit. The kid that played Eddie stole the show, I thought.

I still need to get off my ass and see it.

But the same can be said for Kingsman II, Bladerunner, and American Made as well. Too many ones I'm interested all at around the same time.

Yeah, a hell of a start to the season but then it did kind of petered off. It was still solid, and most season premieres tend to be a bit on the slow side anyhow, so I don't really hold it against them.

Most of the time they seem to have "two" series going on between all the characters in the story, but I think they did a very good job this time around hitting just about all of the main people. I wouldn't be surprised if the next episode or so includes the other missing people into the full arc.

I'm sure that was interesting, were they producing circuit boards or something? I'm working in the science buildings so I do see interesting things, the floors i'm on focus on biology though so there's not much for equipment.

It was for medical equipment. So things like syringes, vials, etc. Kind of funny thinking back on it now, since my line of work is in biopharm.

The only fact that I remember about Shadow is that he likes teh peen.  [*azn*]
I do not like teh Sweeny! [*angry*]

Other Movies / Spiderman Homecoming
« on: July 14, 2017, 11:16:19 AM »
I ended up seeing this on opening night. I liked it quite a bit, though I thought that the "bad guys" were a bit nonsensical. I suppose I also could have done with less teen drama and more Spiderman action, but I can understand why they did it that way.

Anyone else get a chance to see it yet? What'd you think?
