It looks like the update to the forum took. Looking nice. [*thumbsup*]

Quote from: RoughCut on April 25, 2023, 07:30:21 PMHey guys, Sorry to dredge up an old post but using my old laptop for the first time in a long time and when I came onlne this was the first link on my favourites. I'm gutted my old profile got deleted (my own fault due to inactivity). I see some old faces on Facebook from time to time but sure would be nice to get actively talking on here again. Most of my friends don't like horror so would be great for this place to get busy again. Seems like a lifetime ago...

Whats been happening? Chucky, any chance we can get the fights back up and running?! Sorry man, had to ask! haha
I remember your username. Good to see you again. You've been doing well?

I have one of each... desktop is my super computer whereas the laptop is mainly for low-level school stuff.

What I think is so odd, with all the younger people funneling in through class- most of them are computer illiterate. They spend most of their "tech time" on phones and tablets.

Oh that sounds pretty sweet! How's the business been taking... considering everything going on these days?

Well better to take your time and get it the way you want "the first time" rather than having to go back and tweak this and twist that because you wanted to hit some arbitrary deadline for something that didn't necessarily need it.

So all the shoulder stuff has been sorted out. I got an MRI and apparently it is bursitis... doc got kind of disappointed when I turned down all his shots and pills. "Well what did you expect?" Oh I don't know, how about some PT exercises like everything online says you should try first?

Lucky me I'm ambi. [*hibaby*]

Quote from: Chucky on July 04, 2022, 03:14:14 AMThere's a few I see occasionally through Facebook. I recently had "Seed" message me on Facebook, mainly to get contact info for one of the old members.
Lucky me I was able to get a handful of peoples' phone numbers before I dropped off social media. Shame most people moved from IM to Facebook's messenger, otherwise I'd of still been able to get some more.

Quote from: Chucky on July 04, 2022, 03:14:14 AMIt's a lot of work but the main thing for me is trying to get over my inability to be 100% happy with the designs I create.
I know what you mean... it gets irritating knowing there is still work to be done on something you can't quite get to for some reason. At least that's how it is for me.

So did you have a timeframe for it?

In other news I did end up seeing the doc and he suggested I get an MRI... so that'll happen eventually. I was thinking if I can get my hands on the scans maybe I could do something neat with my 3D printer.

Quote from: Chucky on July 01, 2022, 03:28:45 AMI was making good strides a couple years ago. In January 2020 I started hitting the gym and by around May/June the same year I had lost around 60lbs. Unfortunately, put most of it back on throughout 2021.
I've had to dial it back a little bit, myself. I chingered my shoulder a few months back and have been babying it since. Finally getting around to seeing a doc about it so we'll see what's going on.

Luckily enough for me I do a lot more than just lift things for exercise, and I don't need to exercise to lose weight... I mainly do it to wear myself out to sleep better.

Quote from: Chucky on July 01, 2022, 03:28:45 AMIf it weren't for the fact that I got married when I was 19 and was a father at a fairly young age (btw, my daughter turned 18 today), I probably wouldn't have fallen off so many times as I did. There were just times where I had to focus on life over everything else but I never really wanted to move on from the site.
Well maybe now if she's flying the coop you'll have more free you-time on your hands. [*laugh*]

It has crossed my mind, though, with the amount of time that's passed since we've seen a lot of the old timers- how much has life changed for them?

Quote from: Chucky on July 01, 2022, 03:28:45 AMIt is going to be a pretty big revamp. Reviews will of course be a huge thing as usual but with a much more diverse way of rating movies. There will be a lot of video content and also a revamped implementation of the fights. We can also branch out into a lot of other genres. Horror will always be the mainstay, but I think technically any movie could be reviewed and discussed, kind of like a Fight Evil (horror, thriller, action etc) and Fight Everything (drama, comedy etc).  [*browwink*]
Sounds interesting... you've never made an update to the site that I didn't like before so I'll be curious to see how it turns out. Hopefully that sort of thing would be able to bring in/bring back some people. [*yes*]

My friends and I used to go out all the time... camping, hiking, bar, etc. Met plenty of new people and girls that way but over the years (especially after lockdowns) all they really want to do now is go out to eat just ourselves. And then they wonder why everyone but me is getting fat. [*laugh*]

The last couple of years of bullshit really did seem to have done quite a number on most people.

Quote from: Chucky on June 29, 2022, 01:29:06 AMNope.
Picking up now at least? Sounds like you are getting a bit more motivated with the site... hobbies are always a good morale boost.

Quote from: Chucky on June 29, 2022, 01:29:06 AMThat shit's gonna change real soon. I am working on a new site, and yes, actually spending hours everyday on it. With the help of Jiggy, I'm bringing this site back to, hopefully, some of its former glory.

Honestly I'm surprised that you've kept the site around for as long as you have... most people would have just closed up shop long ago. I definitely appreciate the tenacity. Were you planning a complete revamp of the site, or something more along the same vein but with a facelift?

So did you ever narrow down what the issue may be, Chuke?

Quote from: Super Slash Bro on June 03, 2022, 03:36:38 PMDamn I think I joined this site when I was 14, I'm 31 now. That was over half my life ago. I'm almost as old as De was when I first joined. 😂
Jeez, I'm right there with you. [*odd*]

I'm doing the same old, same old- same old job, tons more hours. Kind of the opposite of you guys. Too few people capable of doing what we do effectively and efficiently, so the extra work just gets piled on to the few of us that are around... and even more work on the way, too. It's nice for the bank account but absolutely terrible for the social life. And that doesn't even take into account that the next semester of school hasn't even started up yet.

Seems to be chronic ongoing issue with me... workaholic I guess. If I'm not keeping myself busy I go stir-crazy. Shouldn't really let that be an excuse to get out and socialize... but I'm not necessarily the most social guy in the first place. Compound that with if I don't have direct plans with my friends or some kind of "mission" in mind, I tend to not bother going out at all. Doesn't help that most of the chicks nowadays seem to be nut-jobbier than usual...

I'd really like to interact more around here but it seems like every time I check in nothing gets posted... so over time it simply starts to slip my mind all over again. [*no*]

Honestly, I'm just happy you're alive, Shadow. My life is void of pretty much everything, giving me more time to devote here, but I certainly understand how a much busier life would make it a lot more difficult to check in every day.

Maybe once things stabilize down the line, and these updates come on through, thinks will improve.

Hope you're doing well, Shadow. [*thumbsup*]

Oh I'm doing just fine... just very busy. Twelve hour work days minimum, and that is on the days that I don't teach. Then compound the regular old life stuff I have to either cram in on the weekends, or weeknights after work- it is mainly just plain hectic. I suppose I don't have to put up with it as much as I do, but work really needs the help... and with the way things are going I figure the extra funds couldn't hurt because who knows what shitshow will be coming next. Didn't plan on waiting for Uncle Sam handouts before this crap started... certainly not going to do it when they can barely string together a proper English sentence.

Still haven't caught this super duper dangerous virus of definite unknown origin that is meant to kill us all, either. At least as far as I'm aware. In fact, I haven't gotten anything outside of basic allergies since before the craze started... and I haven't really changed my lifestyle at all.

Kind of a morbid thought, but I have thought on occasion- how many people did we used to have as members that disappeared actually "disappear"... if you catch my drift? Even before the attack of the sniffles it was something I've wondered.

Quote from: Chucky on February 12, 2022, 02:43:33 AMQuite honestly, the last 6-12 months sucked for me and it's been full of depressing procrastination, though Jiggy and I do meet up usually every 2-3 weeks to watch a movie, discuss it, review it etc and discuss whatever else.

I do want to get things moving again, and I think the past week has shown some new glimmers of hope that I can get back on track.
Yeah it seems like Aus (or at least some places in it) has really been hell in terms of going off the deep end from all this crap... and I'm sure that doesn't even completely factor in just regular life things for you, either. Just means more time for you to get things exactly the way you want them, though... I'm sure there is no big rush.

Now if only some of our other lazy bastard former members would hop back on!

Hey, welcome back. Every now and then someone from the past returns... maybe for a day or two, but then they disappear again. Which I get... but it would be awesome for some oldies to come back and stick around.

Jiggy and I are working on new review formats for the website and for YouTube... so this basically means the website will be redeveloped. Not sure how long it will take, but we do meet up regularly and make progress with each and every session.
I'm definitely guilty of this. Been busy with more OT, more school, and more house stuff... never ends. Makes it easy to put stuff on the backburner with the expectation that there will hardly be any replies, if any at all, upon revisiting after another day or so.  [*cry*]

How is this website update coming along, by the way? I'd imagine now you'd have much more headway on how you'd like to have it set up compared to now.

I was way more into consoles back during high school, but even then I still played on a comp. I just find it more convenient because for me PC > TV basically always. I still have an xbox, but I barely touch it.

Plus my PC is beefier than anything Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo would ever put out.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have some 8k Minecraft to play.

People still play games on console? [*azn*]

Looks like it could be fun... especially with some friends.

I tend to make it a habit of not getting into early access games, though. If I'm paying for it I better be getting a finished product. At least that's my mentality.

And 200k seems huge until you look at the entire population of India. Makes me wonder exactly how many people caught it and/or died in China... because if they expect us to believe the numbers they pumped out they're crazy.  [*laugh*]
