Title: Seed Of Chucky (2004)
Post by: Chucky on March 31, 2018, 12:02:13 AM
This is the weakest movie of the franchise to date but despite all of the criticisms and its wrongful transition towards almost being more of a comedy than a horror movie, many fans of the series will still probably find the movie to be extremely watchable because there's still plenty of Chucky to be had.

What did you think of Seed Of Chucky?

I never have seen this one, but I'll probably remedy that in April. Hopefully throughout the month, I can watch all of the Child's Plays to knock them off my list.

I'm actually a fan of all Child's Play movies (yes even 3)...except for this one.

For a long time part 3 was considered by many the worst in the series... I think these days though that most fans of the series don't even have it in their bottom 2 anymore.

People tend not to like this one, but I don't see what's really all that wrong with it. Bride of Chucky had already turned the series into a full on comedy, so what Seed did was the next logical step. I like what they did with Glen/Glenda, and it has some good meta humor.

Nonne of the Chucky movies are really bad, which is quite an accomplishment considering the subject matter.

Bride mixed horror and comedy perfectly, this one went too far in the later direction. Plus the child doll was really, really annoying.

Yeah, I think it's more the accent than anything else. We don't need no hobbit from Lord of the Rings voicing a killer doll in a Chucky movie, even if the doll is a panzy.

Kind of unrelated, but apparently Chucky has a cameo in the Ready Player One movie.   [*odd*]

I hear there's a lot of horror references in it... Jason and Freddy are meant to be in it and apparently The Shining plays a huge role in the movie as well... though the movie still feels way too CGI-ish for me to be all that interested in it. I will probably see it at some point, but not in theatres.

On HMF, I heard from a fan of the novel that the movie is a bit of a mess, but he did suggest that if you've not read the book, the movie might turn out enjoyable for you.

I posted a review for this.

I found this an utter abomination. Bride of Chucky was not that enjoyable with my last rewatch, but it blows this out of the water.

What a kick in the face to an otherwise okay horror series. God, what a fucking mess.

I thought that I may not like the movie, but I never guessed it would be as bad as it was. I'm not quite in shock, but I am very disappointed.

Hopefully a rewatch of Curse of Chucky will take this horrible taste out of my mouth.

You though Leprechaun: Back 2 Tha Hood was way better? Let's not say things we can't take back now.  [*hehehmm*]

We can argue which is better, but as to which one is more enjoyable? I'll take a shitty Leprechaun movie over Seed anytime.  [*thumbsup*]

That said, I've not rewatched either Leprechaun in the Hood or Back 2 tha Hood in any recent times, so perhaps that will change when I get to them. I will say, though, with all due respect, I highly doubt it.  [*laugh*]

Even though my review was harsh, at least we both agree this is the weakest of the franchise (unless Cult is somehow worse).

Well, I'm a bit behind in my reviews but I'll have my Cult review up in a matter of hours.

I'm hoping to watch and review both Curse of and Cult of Chucky by the end of the day myself. [*thumbsup*]

For Cult, you'd be best off watching the dvd/bluray. If you watch on Netflix, you won't get all the gore or the post-credits ending.

I ran into this article earlier today (http://bloody-disgusting.com/home-video/3462476/version-cult-chucky-netflix-not-unrated/).

So yeah, I'll skip the NetFlix version and instead find it online on some streaming site. Thanks for the heads-up.
