Since we're bringing back old/popular threads, I figured I'd necro this one.I watched the film version once, it was barely memorable. I argue it's because it's hard to adapt my favorite novel of all time into a memorable film.
Last horror movie I watched was Silence of the Lambs. Really, I kind of feel bad. I loved this movie when I was younger, now I think it's simply "meh." Don't get me wrong, Anthony Hopkins is fantastic as Hannibal Lecter and I do enjoy the Buffalo Bill character. But everything else is just.....it hasn't held up with time in my eyes. As I was watching it, I couldn't help but nitpick at it. Whether it be from certain performances (Jodie Foster) or the amateur-ish cinematography, I really don't enjoy this movie anymore.
If I had to give it a rating, I'm afraid it would have to be a 5/10, Average at best.
Last horror film I watched would be Silent Night, Deadly Night. Great film; classic.
Dude, it sat on my shelf for four years for absolutely no reason. Go out and watch it first chance you get and if you like slashers in any form, you'll love it.
They're what's wrong with the world. [*no*]Hunger, poverty and war have nothing on me not seeing this movie!
Did anyone see my article on A Serbian Film back at the old site?
A Serbian Film (2010) It had some REALLY fucked up parts in it my eyes and mind both felt soiled after watching it.

Child's Play
One of the movie channels played the first three movies back to back this weekend, but I had to step out after the first, so I missed the other two. Otherwise Child's Play 3 would have been the last one I've seen.
Anyways, it'd been a while since I saw this one. Probably since I was 13, so a good 11 years. I forgot just how annoying the kid that played Andy was (granted, he was a lot more tolerable in CP 2.) Aside from that, I enjoyed the hell out of this movie. Brad Dourif was able to do something that seems impossible to do. Make a murderous doll actually scary. If anyone else had voiced Chucky, I don't think they could have pulled it off. Something about his voice makes it work.
The kills, while somewhat basic (aside from the voodoo kill, which is still pretty badass) were effective and the characters were likeable for the most part. Overall, it's not my favorite horror movie, but I enjoy it enough to recommend it.
7/10
I recently saw a movie called All About Evil (2010) about a girl who owns an old theater and films real kills and shows them to the audience who think the kills are staged. It all leads up to a few bodies piling up and some gore but overall something about it just doesn't give it much of an impact. I ended up feeling like it was easily forgettable and nothing more. Might give it a 5 for some nice moments.Kinda sounds like 8MM without the drama.
Paranormal Activity 4
That movie looks hilarious for all the wrong reasons, and only because I'm looking at the title. I'm picturing a fan film based on the game. Based on your description... seems pretty close.
"From Dusk Till Dawn." This movie is a fucking classic.

Ditto. Never gets old watching that flick.
I recently saw Dream House. I had been reluctant to see it after the studio gives away massive spoilers in the TV trailers! Fucktards should keep shit locked down so the audience can experience the twists for themselves. Anyhoo, got passed that annoyance and gave it a watch. The movie plods along doing nothing while you sit there thinking "OK, this is building up for a big scene.." then nada. The ending comes and it becomes a silly, cliche of a mess. How the producers didn't read this script and think "hmm, this is crap" is beyond me. I thought the actors did good. The writers though, should be shot. By the killer. Who was revealed in the trailer.
De Rating: 3/10.
One annoying thing is it takes him the entire movie before he finally asks "what happened that night?" Really? That should have been asked the second you realized!
The ThingI found it entertaining, and I liked how it was an actual prequel, but it doesn't have the soul it should have, and the scares don't work like they should.
Not the Carpenter one, the prequel. I heard it was bad and wanted to see just how bad. On a scale from 1 to 10 on the terrible scale, it's about an 8. This is one failed to capture the feeling of Carpenter's film. Whereas that had tension and kept me guessing what would happen next, this one was predictable from start to finish. They tried to throw red herrings out there, but the outcome was obvious each time. The only moment I thought was relatively interesting was the pre/mid credit scenes that was basically the opening to the Carpenter film. That's really the only positive thing I can say about the movie. The effects sucked, the acting and characters were meh. This movie is just one big ball of meh.
Thankfully the Carpenter classic is on demand. Think I'mma go watch that and try to purge this turd from my memory.
I'm very, very late for this, but I watched Hellraiser for the first time yesterday. Two awesome movies. Clive Barker and Joss Whedon. Also, two movies with Cenobites in them. So, you know, win.
Holy shit, that movie's scary.
EDIT: And now I just watched The Cabin in The Woods. Damn, that was awesome. It was like Evil Dead meets Hellraiser meets Cube meets Hunger Games meets Dollhouse meets the Cthulhu Mythos.

I'll never in my life be able to see that as a horror film.I almost referred to it as borderline, but then I realized that it's a kaiju film and a slasher flim at the same time (though the slasher aspects are toned down for the movie version) so it's hard to refer to it as anything else.

Have to say, Crash, you're one of the few horror peeps I've spoken to online who actually liked The Babadook. I too rather enjoyed it, despite it's oddness. But most other horror fans, alas, don't seem to have the same perspective.

I too enjoyed the movie but I only saw it once when it first came out. It's in my bluray collection, I just haven't gotten around to watching it again. Sometimes the opinion changes on the second viewing but I'm sure I'll still like it on the second viewing.
Body Melt (1993)
Pretty good. Amazing gore. Just wtf was that subplot with the TCM-esque family that went nowhere?
The mutilator 1984 aka fall break
really wanted to like this one it had some good points and some decent gore but overall fell flat
it had a score that tried to mix in some up beat music that just didnt work, had a very slow start and some glaring plot holes and wtf moments that just couldn't be overlooked 4/10
