Horror Talk / Friend Request (2016)
April 02, 2018, 02:42:28 AM
This banal waste of space is almost utterly without merit. Made for the consumption of teenagers, the only reason this flick exists is to make quick bucks. While I'm not glad I saw it, I am glad I didn't pay a cent to view it.

Have you anything kind to say about this soulless piece of trash?

Horror Talk / Re: Child's Play (1988)

Just finished re-watching it and writing my review.

As it turns out, I liked it quite a bit more than I thought I did, and as I already liked it a lot, that's saying something. Gave it an 8.5/10, which is a damn solid rating.

Fun movie all around.

On HMF, I heard from a fan of the novel that the movie is a bit of a mess, but he did suggest that if you've not read the book, the movie might turn out enjoyable for you.

Horror Talk / Piranha 3D (2010)
March 31, 2018, 04:58:59 AM
For whatever this movie may lack, Piranha, when all is said and done, is a damn entertaining film. Fantastic gore and a good rampage that doesn't go amiss. Sure, there may not be that much else going for it, but I had a fun time, and I think that's all this movie was going for.

What did you think of this rendition of Piranha?

While certainly meandering at points, and weighed down by just a bit too much melodrama, this flick does boast some suspense scenes and solid acting. Certainly far from the best silent horror flick, The Avenging Conscience has character (one that apparently likes Edgar Allan Poe [*laugh*]).

Have you chanced upon this silent flick?

I never have seen this one, but I'll probably remedy that in April. Hopefully throughout the month, I can watch all of the Child's Plays to knock them off my list.

What in the fuck is that clip? Absolutely beautiful. May have to save it for later use. [*browwink*]

This movie just gives me a weird feeling. Like, it was pretty solid for the most part (despite the fact I think it was a bit long), but past a certain point, I'll admit I wasn't really feeling it anymore.

Horror Talk / Re: Cabin Fever (2016)

For the first half, about to the point where they accidentally harm the skin-disease guy, the dialogue is almost completely word-for-word.

Honestly, I had no idea of that going in. Sort of blew me away. 1998's Psycho was bad enough, but come one, take the idea of the original Cabin Fever and make something new for yourself. Don't just hash out the poor story (sans weird comedy) and call it a day.

The only thing I really liked about this movie was the song "Taken" by Young Summer. I really liked this song, and it's on my iTunes. But everything else just points to how utterly pointless this remake is.

If you enjoyed the original, I'd not recommend seeking this out. If you thought the original fell a bit flat, while I don't think you'd love this, it might be worth the experience.

I've seen this something like five, six times now, and just like the last three times I've seen it, I have to give it just below average.

While possessing many amazing qualities, which I briefly cover in my review, I just don't enjoy it.

A movie that's well-done, technically speaking, but I wouldn't rewatch under most circumstances.

And yes, believe you me, I've gotten much hate over my views on this movie. Bring it, fuckers. [*finger*] [*laugh*]

When it comes to non-horror movies, I am woefully inadequate.

That said, somewhat ironically, this flick, along with Bloodsport, have always sort of been in the back of my mind to check out. Not sure when I ever will, but the thought is there.

Horror Talk / Cabin Fever (2016)
March 29, 2018, 06:24:33 AM
While certainly a pretty pointless remake, the 2016 version of Cabin Fever stripped the story of the comedic portions and tried to play it straight, or as straight as possible without changing more than a handful of lines within the first half of the film. A very flawed product still, it improves marginally on the original.

What did you think of this remake?

Horror Talk / Miles Before Sleep (2016)
March 29, 2018, 06:14:55 AM
Michael Taylor Pritt's second film is a mostly solid outing, though the plot isn't particularly amazing. It drags a bit, but being as it's under an hour, it's generally able to keep you interested.

What say you on Miles Before Sleep?

Horror Talk / The Toxic Slime Creature (1982)

What this obscure flick lacks in plot and excitement, it moderately makes up for in the charm it possesses. Certainly, none of the actors are amazing, and we get the monster in doses too short to make an effect, but still, you can tell this straight-to-video flick had heart.

Have you ventured across The Toxic Slime Creature?
