It may have been one dimensional, but that didn't stop the fact that people don't like being told how to live. Especially by a guy that looked like Charles Manson with a superiority complex.

It's funny. For as bad as the prequel trilogy is, they help me appreciate the original trilogy a lot more. Hell, they make me appreciate Return of the Jedi and I really don't like that movie.

Definitely. Though, I'm still partial to Rick despite his more recent actions. Kinda hard to hate the guy that the show started with and you've been following for this long. I really dig the relationship he has with Daryl, where if Rick needs something, all he has to do is nod and Daryl knows exactly what he's talking about. It's a slick dynamic.

The nice thing is that he can work it both way.

As a face, he doesn't mind people drinking once in a while, but he doesn't do it and is a good role model. As good as a tattoo covered insomniac can be.

As a heel, he demonizes us for having a beer once in a while, and claims his absolute superiority.

He recently toned that downed however, and mainly focuses on how he's the best in the world, and that nobody but him deserves the glory.
After doing the whole "Straight Edge Society" thing, it'd be kind of hard to top that in terms of demonizing people. Dude nearly caused riots anywhere he went during that period.

I read that they would, but they wouldn't be the focus of the new films. Maybe cameos or brief appearances to help establish the new "heroes" of the new trilogy.

Was trying to avoid spoilers, L. Haha. But you're right. Blondie needs a smack in the mouth and to be woken up. Or for Darryl to shoot her in the face with his crossbow.
I modded the post to avoid spoilers. But yeah, Andrea needs to just go. If Daryl did end up shooting her, it'd be payback for the time she shot him and I'd be ok with that.

Horror Talk / What's the Last Horror Movie You Watched?
February 06, 2013, 12:29:02 AM
Since we're bringing back old/popular threads, I figured I'd necro this one. Would be nice to see your thoughts on these and maybe a rating rather than just listing the title of the movie.

Last horror movie I watched was Silence of the Lambs. Really, I kind of feel bad. I loved this movie when I was younger, now I think it's simply "meh." Don't get me wrong, Anthony Hopkins is fantastic as Hannibal Lecter and I do enjoy the Buffalo Bill character. But everything else is just.....it hasn't held up with time in my eyes. As I was watching it, I couldn't help but nitpick at it. Whether it be from certain performances (Jodie Foster) or the amateur-ish cinematography, I really don't enjoy this movie anymore.

If I had to give it a rating, I'm afraid it would have to be a 5/10, Average at best.

I still feel weird seeing CM Punk using straight edge as his gimmick.
Well, he is legitimately Straight Edge, so what's the big deal?

adventure time. got stoned and watched it with friend. tripped balls. was awesome
Adventure Time is awesome even when you're sober.
It comes off as yet another show that's being random for the sake of random. It doesn't look funny, at all. I honestly don't see the appeal in it.

Then you have missed the horrifically dark undertones this show has. Nuclear apocalypse, characters literally losing their minds to become someone else, a male character wanting to be female, a child being born with a birth defect, the absolute loneliness of being the last of your race, the advance of AI. The show is fucking amazing and deserves your respect.
When the commercials cease to be obnoxious and gives me a reason to even give it a watch, perhaps then it will get the respect you think I should give it. But that's not likely considering Cartoon Network tries to cater to the lowest common denominator with everything they have on now (see the Annoying Orange.)

Honestly, I think she redeemed herself in her death. Yeah, she was a bit of a bitch, but didn't annoy me anywhere near as much as Andrea has. Honestly waiting/hoping she's killed off soon. She's insufferable.

Honestly not a Star Trek fan, but I enjoyed JJ's take on the franchise quite a bit.

As for him taking the helm of the Star Wars films, I too remain hopeful. The prequel trilogy was an abomination, thankfully Lucas won't be anywhere near these films (to my knowledge, at least.) I'm interested to see how things turn out with Hamill, Fischer, and Ford returning.

Maybe earlier Family Guy was random for the sake of random. Not so much anymore from what I've seen. Adventure Time comes off as yet another cartoon trying to capture what Ren and Stimpy had, yet looks nowhere near it's level. Every commercial I've seen for it has been super fucking obnoxious and has made me want to avoid Cartoon Network like the plague.

Television / The Walking Dead
February 05, 2013, 11:34:31 PM
Figure since we now have a TV section and I've seen this show brought up a few times, I'd make the thread so we can chit chat about it.

Right now, the Walking Dead is the only reason I even bother turning on my TV. To me, it's the only thing worth watching anymore and I'm super hyped for it's return this Sunday. The first portion of Season 3 started off amazingly and there were episodes that very well could have worked for season finales. I'm eager to see whether or not they can keep the pace they established going.

Don't think it's a matter of Opera music. No, it's more of a matter of most of us learning our lesson with Rob Zombie. Which is, "Avoid him at all costs for he is the eater of worlds."

Eh, his track record is fine. He's only directed a handful of movies to which half have been decent.
That's a matter of opinion. Personally, I think all of his movies have been garbage. But that's just my take.
