Horror Talk / Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed (2004)
March 08, 2021, 05:44:04 AM
I feel that Ginger Snaps 2 is an okay movie that takes some questionable story routes and ends on a less-than-satisfactory note. There's enough here to get the film to break even, but it's far from a great film, and I don't know it's it's one that people would go back too that often (unlike the fantastic first movie).

What are your thoughts on this sequel?

Horror Talk / The Incredible Melting Man (1977)
March 08, 2021, 05:28:04 AM
While possessing some solid special effects, The Incredible Melting Man strikes me as an excruciatingly dull movie with little going for it. It has that nice, somber 70's atmosphere, but it's also sluggish and slow, so it's just not worth it.

What are your thoughts on this 70's flick?

Horror Talk / Wrong Turn (2003)

Wrong Turn is the right turn. Quality sequences of mad violence and horrifying specters of death abound.

Have you ever taken a Wrong Turn and ended up in Canada (but pretended it was West Virginia)?

Horror Talk / Visiting Hours (1982)
March 03, 2021, 09:22:15 AM
More than anything, I think Visiting Hours drags a lot. There are some sequences worth seeing, perhaps, but a large portion of the film either feels like filler or that it's been going on far too long. Regardless of some solid performances, Visiting Hours doesn't really have a ton going for it.

What do you think about this hospital-based slasher?

Horror Talk / I Don't Want to Be Born (1975)
March 03, 2021, 09:09:31 AM
This British film isn't that stellar, but it does possess an occasionally okay sequence and Donald Pleasence, so I don't personally find it near as bad as others tend to.

What are your thoughts on I Don't Want to Be Born?

This is a legit good movie. I can't speak for Chucky, but I'd be down to watch that #BadBoy

Yeah, Monster Man is an odd one. I have strong nostalgic value for the movie, but at the same time, seeing it nowadays, I can't get past some of the sillier comedy.

I've not seen the newest batch of sequels that came out, so you're likely right, but at least the first three are all enjoyable in their own ways.

Horror Talk / Re: Cut (2000)

That description could work, but there are other movies that might also apply to, such as Midnight Movie (2008), which is, at least to me, a more enjoyable film than Cut.

Well, that sounds like one of the classics we have lined up for this week's podcast (unless you're watching other shitty movies this week). Should a fun time.

Thanks for fixing that poster, brah.  [*thumbsup*]

So I just realized that poster I put up for the movie has a border on the top and bottom. I was going to replace it, but apparently once a picture's up, I can't do so. Sorry brah.  [*no*]

Just maybe. :P In my defense, there were a lot of moving pieces, so I'm happy it's just one thing I forgot.  [*hehehmm*]

Horror Talk / Peeping Tom (1960)

I have to admit that I expected more from this proto-slasher. While Peeping Tom wasn't without potential, I felt that it dragged far more than anything else, and though I wish I could have enjoyed this classic more, especially after literal years of wanting to see it, it's overall not all that, as the kids say.

Have you ever been a Peeping Tom?

Horror Talk / House (1985)
January 30, 2021, 02:04:48 PM
Some of this may well be nostalgia speaking, but I think that House, behind it's comedic coat of paint, contains plenty of interesting character-driven ideas, such as the main character's battle with his memories of Vietnam. Definitely not perfect, House does get a bit goofy at times, but generally I find the film pretty solid.

What are your thoughts on House, and would you pay the rent?
