It's one of those movies that is really effective at setting the mood, but when you look past that to pay closer attention it gets problematic.

I should say I don't absolutely hate the Batman sequels, but it's a love/hate sort of thing. I can absolutely love parts of them and can't stop shaking my head at other parts.

That movie was weird. I know it sets up Freddy vs Jason, but what happened in it was never acknowledged anywhere else. #79

Shadow, you realize that my friends visit Arizona in the summer to escape the weather? Until Phoenix develops a coast and 100% humidity days, no.
Quote from: L-Face on June 04, 2013, 04:39:21 AMThank you! The only reason I watched any of his films were because I had hopes that it would be impossible to fuck up The Last Airbender. I watched all of the films he had release to that point, and enjoyed The Village the most, the sole reason being that I treated it like a comedy. Actually, I enjoyed Signs when I was younger. Now, I have to be in the right mood to watch it and ignore the ways it makes no sense. #80

I stopped giving blood when I stopped having what most people would consider to be a day off. Now that I have them again, I'd like to track down a blood drive on my day off.

The first time I watched Nightmare 5 and 6, I enjoyed them. You know, that fannish, semi-childish way that you can watch a movie and like it as long as it has those one or two things you like (in this case, Freddy cutting people). I don't think I need to elaborate on how I feel about them now.
The Batman sequels (Forever and Robin) are similar, except for the fact that they are what introduced me to Batman. It's the equivalent of someone whose first slasher film was Bride of Chucky or Nightmare 5 and then years later they become familiar with the genre and look back at it. #82

Technically, he's a Deadite, and they rot exactly how much and how quickly they want to.

So I hear that M. Night Shyamalan has continued his trend of drawing terrible performances out of good and bad actors alike with After Earth. I was planning to see this yesterday, but I wasn't walking to the theatre in 87 degrees to see a movie I was hearing bad things about. Anybody watch this movie?

For the record, I felt both Iron Man 1 and 2 were uninspired and generic. I found 3 to be the strongest of either and I would place it in my Top 10 superhero movies, if not Top 5.

The words hanging off the top totally ruined my suspension of disbelief.

I pretty much expect Spoony to hate any movie that comes out lately. He'll nitpick the shit out of all of it. And I have to give it to Spoony that he pointed out some flaws in the movie that I hadn't seen. That said, from a character and action perspective, I think it went really well (without deviating from what it was trying to do too far at least). Plotwise, it could have been more solid.

His long lost son will be played by Shia LaBeouf.

Ah, got you. I still think it would be a nice touch for movie threads, but if we can work out some sort of system where the review section and the forums are linked, it might be unnecessary.

If you love it, it's not a 0/10 for you. There's a reason I gave Troll 2 a decent score, for instance.
