Other Movies / Damage (2009)
March 22, 2018, 02:52:10 AM
Damage has a surprising touch of humanity and emotion in it that is often absent in movies that center around grown men beating the shit out of each other for money. It's not going to win any oscars but I believe that it does overachieve in multiple aspects for its intended audience.

Have you managed to cross paths with this little Steve Austin movie yet?

Well hey, that's what this site is all about with the ratings comparisons and all. With the new design, I am going to flesh out the rating comparisons feature and make it more in-depth so you can whittle it down to even sub-genre's like slasher movies in this case. So then you can align your taste in slasher movies with others.  [*browwink*]

Horror Talk / The Strangers: Prey At Night (2018)
March 20, 2018, 12:32:44 AM
The Strangers: Prey At Night does not really do anything to reinvent the slasher genre, it just goes balls out for stalk and slash with its open environment, holding back very few punches. Its retro-based soundtrack and few noticeable homages to older movies, such as the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, should hearken you decades back to when the slasher genre was once booming.

Have you managed to catch this movie yet?

Horror Talk / The Strangers (2008)

The Strangers is a tough movie to rate. On one hand you could say it's a unique movie full of dread. On the other hand, it feels hollow with its lack of motives and explanations.

What do you think of this home invasion slasher?

Horror Talk / Bride Of Chucky (1998)
March 18, 2018, 11:42:49 PM
Bride Of Chucky has some creative kills, Tiffany is an okay character addition, though depending on your tolerance of Tilly's voice she could potentially drive you a little nuts. Chucky is still the life of this party but trades the dark tone of his character in exchange for more silliness.

Where do you rank this film in the Chucky franchise?

Horror Talk / Re: Halloween (2007)

Ok, I think I  kind of recall it now. Eh, that wouldn't affect my sympathy level for her. Teens of the modern age do a lot worse on the normal than make an inappropriate joke or whatever.

Didn't Laurie smoke in the original Halloween? Naughty girl.  [*tsktsk*]

I read your review, I haven't watched the movie in a while, but you mention Laurie mimics being molested in her first scene, I remember Laurie's sister doing something like that early in the movie when Laurie is a baby... is there another scene where this happens that I'm not recalling correctly?

Not a huge fan of werewolf movies myself but my wife is and I'm sure she'd be interested.

Never checked this one out though I've often seen the poster/cover for this one in a bunch of places. I assumed it would be pretty mediocre, whatever it was, but I'll probably still check it out when I get a chance to.

Horror Talk / The Howling (1981)
March 18, 2018, 04:35:02 AM
Personally, I'm not a huge fan of most werewolf movies. There are some good practical effect in this movie when there is werewolf action to be had on screen, and the movie is revered among many fans of the subgenre.

Are you a fan of The Howling?

I haven't watched the remake either but I already find it to be a memorable movie thanks to this video, 20 seconds in...  [*hehehmm*]

I hope to God that you are joking.

Though a little bit of trivia, which people from Australia rarely get to say, this movie was filmed less than an hour from where I live. I wish I could say that about a better movie.  [*hehehmm*]

Other Movies / Street Fighter (1994)
March 16, 2018, 01:09:19 AM
There are no memorable fight scenes, there are way too many characters trying to share screen time and a lot of them do not do their characters justice. Street Fighter is a boring, convoluted action movie. If you think this is a good movie, you can lick my ass.

What did you think of this video game adaptation?

Horror Talk / Sssssss (1973)
March 16, 2018, 01:05:15 AM
For a movie that was made almost 50 years ago, it holds up incredibly well in terms of its appearance and doesn't look any older than some movies from the late 80's. With that being said, Sssssss is not particularly scary unless you have a great fear of snakes. It's a mildly entertaining movie, but probably not memorable enough to command repeat viewings.

Horror Talk / Dolls (1987)
March 16, 2018, 12:07:38 AM
There are characters you'll like, and characters you'll hate, and by the time the movie is over you'll be left satisfied with their fate. Dolls is a fun and cheesy slice of 80's horror.

Did you enjoy this movie?
