Horror Talk / Re: The Boy (2016)

I saw it a year or two ago, remember it being alright (maybe a 7) but don't remember it will enough to review it properly.

Horror Talk / Re: The Exorcist (1973)

I had the 2000 release which was the first release to have it and I'm sure it was either through the audio commentary or an interview that said it was because of effects. I googled it out of interest and this is what I read in a somewhat recent Bloody-Disgusting article...

"Fans have dubbed it the "spider-walk scene," and it wasn't actually part of the film until a 2000 re-release that allowed Friedkin to digitally remove the visible wires that forced him to cut it back in 1973."

Still haven't picked this up but noticed a couple of months ago that the developers are no longer allowed to continue with any further DLC because of some dickheads lawsuit over ownership of the franchise.

Music / Re: Last Song You Listened To

I was always thinking of using this song for some sort of horror music video, maybe like a Jason and his momma type video.  [*hehehmm*]

Television / The Purge television series
September 19, 2018, 10:32:25 AM
I noticed this is on Amazon Prime, so I was thinking of giving it a go even though I rarely watch TV shows, I'm more of a movie guy. The Purge movies were okay, I guess.

Has anyone else seen the TV show or have any thoughts on it? I might give it a go on the weekend.

I agree, indubitably.

I thought it might be good to keep a thread like this going so there's some non-movie related talk also going.

I guess the main thing that I do outside of this website is play basketball. I play in two different men's leagues (Tuesday and Thursday nights) and my Tuesday night team went undefeated during the regular season but had a disappointing semi finals performance. We ended up missing out on a championship that really should have been ours.

It was a pretty epic game though, we were down 7 points with barely over a minute left in the 4th quarter. We managed to tie the game and take it overtime with a 3 pointer that I hit in the closing seconds of regulation but in overtime we had a shot just fall off the hoop at the buzzer and lost by 1 point.

Anyhoo, for three seasons in a row now I have been the league leader in 3pt shooting. So I have that going for me but I really need to lose some weight, I'm by far the fattest guy in the league.  [*odd*]

Horror Talk / Upgrade (2018)
September 19, 2018, 10:10:57 AM
Upgrade is a funky new take on those retro sci-fi thrillers, and to me, it had a bit of a Blade Runner feel to it, but on a much more limited scale. The pace of the movie is good, the acting is fine, there's some decent violence and it has a really good ending.

Have you seen Upgrade?

Horror Talk / Re: The Exorcist (1973)

I believe there is a more recent extended version that has since come out, not sure if I actually saw that one but as long as you watch any of the post-2000 cuts which include the spiderwalk scene, those would be fine. I think the movie is better with the spiderwalk than without it. I believe the only reason why it wasn't originally in the movie is because they weren't able to do it without showing the wires and that only became possible with more recent technology.

It's a sweet-ass flick once it gets going.

Horror Talk / Mom and Dad (2017)
September 17, 2018, 11:44:23 AM
Mom and Dad is a movie with an interesting idea but seemed to run out of steam half way through as it pads itself with a lot of nonsense scenes and overdoses on annoying chase sequences with sped-up framerates.

What do you think of it?

Horror Talk / Hate Crime (2005)
September 17, 2018, 11:02:37 AM
Hate Crime is a movie that doesn't have any scenes that are all that memorable, and is likely not worthy of more than a one-time viewing by most people, but for a movie with limited violence and a fairly low budget production, it succeeds well enough.

I wasn't checking it out to see gay sex, I swear. [*uhoh*]

Horror Talk / Re: Last of the Living (2009)

Haven't seen it but did notice on IMDb that 90% of the movie was made with only $5,000. If it's even just an okay movie that is quite impressive.

Horror Talk / The Predator (2018)
September 13, 2018, 11:13:25 PM
From start to finish, the movie is a wild ride. There's always something going on with action aplenty. However, the movie takes too many liberties with its use of CGI. The first half feels like a movie and the second half feels like a cartoon at times. It's an okay movie that would have benefited with more featuring of the traditional Predators than this new ultimate Predator which is made up completely of CGI.

What have you got to say about The Predator?
