Nope. If anything, the hype factor ties in with #3 more than anything else. Exorcist was touted as the scariest movie of all time and now the Conjuring is being touted as one of the scariest movies of all time (and as the scariest film of the year.) #1 is in bold due to it being the same scenario for most of the films in the "haunting/demonic possession" sub-genre. Priest or some type of religious person has doubts about their faith and can't combat the evil. But then, at the very end, they find the strength within themselves and their faith is restored, allowing them to defeat the evil.

Reasons not to see this movie:
1. You cannot possibly view Christianity as a successful anti-demon force.
2. You cannot stand 30 minutes of build-up before anything exciting happens.
3. You hate The Exorcist for some reason.

That said, this film is brilliant.  The Hayes brothers do a great job of subverting a modern audiences expectations, and the directing style is somewhere between Insidious and The Exorcist.

The bolded areas are exactly why I likely won't be paying to see this movie. The first is a lesser reason. The other two are my major issues. I hate the Exorcist (gone over it many a time, so I'll move on.) Everyone and their brother is saying how "brilliant" this movie is. How great it is. It's got so much hype. So much so, that there's no possible way that it will live up to it for me and would only cause me to hate it.

Anyways, I decided to inflict punishment on myself by watching the three Crow sequels in a row. Since the last one I watched was "Wicked Prayer" I suppose I'll talk about this one.

I'll start with the positives. I like the idea of the plot. A group bearing the names of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse dishing out their own revenge while simultaneously trying to unleash hell and Satan upon the Earth. The other positive, Dennis Hopper hamming it up as a Satan worshiper pimp was pretty fun. Now that the positives are out of the way, I guess that leaves me with the rest of this movie.

You know what, I can overlook everything else but one thing. Rather, one person. Edward Furlong. Wow. Just wow. Not going to pretend to know him as a person, but judging by his super half assed performance, I can only assume he took the gig because he needed money for drugs. It was kind of a case of him seemingly not want to be there and still somehow coming off as if he was "going for it." And by going for it, I of course mean constantly leaning to one side with his head craned and trying his damnedest to be intimidating and ultimately failing due to him looking like the way mainstream media perceives every goth ever.

When he first wandered out in the whole Crow motif I literally laughed for a good two minutes. Really, I came out of this feeling kind of sad for the dude that played War due to him going from a massive hit like the Matrix to this dud. This whole series was just a massive ball of interesting concepts and crappy execution. Maybe the remake will be more dignified, but I won't be holding my breath.

To each their own, I suppose. "Haunting/Demonic Possession" movies don't do anything for me. Though, I guess this point in my life, with everything I've seen in horror films, nothing really does. There's really nothing a horror film can do to phase me anymore since it's all pretty much been done time and again. That's not to say I can't appreciate the films or the efforts they make (providing I'm not bored by what I'm watching, that is.)

The problem with Paranormal Activity was, there was nothing. It was 90 minutes of chairs moving and ambient noises. Take that formula and repeat it for three more films, and that sums up the Paranormal Activity series perfectly. Someone once described Paranormal Activity as "the Where's Waldo of horror films" and that's another perfect analogy. Fucking terrible series of films.

I was originally going to say Carrie, but I wanted to go with a somewhat level playing field. Be kind of hard for Chucky to put up a fight against her when she could fling him across rooms or fling various objects at him. But with Charlene, Chucky could at least close the distance providing he can dodge the fire.

Of all the songs I'd like to hear a Maynard lead band cover, this was one I never even thought of. Regardless, I fucking dig it. Their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody is also really well done.

The problem is finding a character that's not only the polar opposite, but is a child (or child-like) so he could attempt to play "Hide the Soul." I'd say Damien from the Omen, but he'd likely see through Chucky's ruse. Charlene McGee from Firestarter, perhaps?

When I saw the commercials I was like, "Oh great, another parody movie." Then I was like, "wait.....this is actually supposed to be serious? Ok....." I won't be seeing it at all.

Something to wet your whistles:

Yeah, PS3 had a $600 price tag (think 360 did as well.) and that was during the "next gen of movie format" war. Sony with Bluray won obviously.

To be fair, PS4 is cheaper than the PS3 was when that came out. PS4 has a $400 price tag. Xbone has a $500 price tag.

Only downside of the PS4 is that you'll have to have Playstation Plus to play online, which is the only issue I had with the 360. That aside, Plus makes it worth it considering you get free games for having it.

As for the Last of Us, I like the concept. It's a bit "I Am Legend" meets "28 Days Later." Also, the guy that voices Joel is also playing Joker in Batman: Arkham Origins and Ocelot in Metal Gear Solid V. Kinda interesting.

I really wouldn't say "Superman is incapable of having a good movie." Especially if you throw someone like Doomsday or Darkseid at him. When you've got a villain that makes it seem like there's no way, even for Superman, to win.....then you've got a movie. Problem is, the general public is only familiar with Luthor and Zod (not the other villains faults, just the way shit happens.) Personally, I hate Superman. But if you put his other villains like, Parasite, Metallo, etc in......I'll watch it.

Platinum Dunes is hit and miss in my eyes. They made me appreciate the original TCM (hate it when I originally saw it.) Honestly, may have just been R. Lee Ermy that made me like it. Anyways.....

Still too early to make a judgement about this one. From what I'm lead to believe, it disregards "Bride of Chucky" and "Seed of Chucky" which may be a good thing. While mildly campy, I'm not sure "over the top" isn't what this movie needs. Stick with the basics "no big name celebrities" and it may be fine.
