Horror Talk / The Phantom Of The Opera (1989)
January 29, 2018, 02:57:52 PM
Robert Englund brings a Freddy Krueger-esque performance to this adaptation of The Phantom Of The Opera and what we get is a weird hybrid of Freddy Krueger, slasher movie with some musical obsession thrown in.

We all know this is my favourite movie. But what about you?

Horror Talk / The Shape Of Water (2017)
January 28, 2018, 02:11:35 PM
The Shape Of Water moves quite slowly but is always intriguing with some interesting characters performed well by the actors. It is a little too artistically ambitious for my tastes but I can understand why other people would be more captivated than I was.

Have you seen it yet?

Horror Talk / Insidious (2010)
January 27, 2018, 11:59:30 PM
When you're no longer a child, it's very difficult for a movie to actually scare you and make the hairs stick up on the back of your neck but Insidious has managed to succeed in this area for me.

Horror Talk / Saw (2004)

SAW was a clever and unique experience for its time with plenty of twists. Its reputation is soured by its many hollow, cash-grabbing sequels but it is a good movie on its own.

Horror Talk / I Spit On Your Grave (1978)
January 26, 2018, 03:16:51 AM
I Spit On Your Grave may not be quality cinema and may not be a film that I like to repeat very often but it does evoke a range of emotions that you will rarely experience while watching most other films.

Where does this movie stand with you?

Horror Talk / Re: Event Horizon (1997)

Yeah, I definitely don't see the hype behind it. I actually watched it tonight for the first time. I've just never been in the mood to ever watch it but thanks to the movie schedule it forced me to finally get to it. I think it caught me at a good time too, I was engaged from the start.

Horror Talk / Event Horizon (1997)

Event Horizon builds intrigue and has an exciting finish to the movie. It's a little too spacey and has more CGI than I would normally prefer but overall it was a decent watch for me.

Quote from: Crash Dummie on January 24, 2018, 05:22:57 AMIt's kind of the same deal as Alien and Aliens. They're pretty different movies.

You're right, they are different... because Aliens is better than Alien.  [*hehehmm*]

Horror Talk / It Follows (2014)
January 23, 2018, 11:54:43 PM
At a time where it seemed like a remake was being churned out left, right and center, It Follows comes through with something more original when the genre was yearning for it.

The Terminator is a great action film for its time although the sequel trumps it in pretty much every single aspect.

Horror Talk / Hellraiser (1987)
January 22, 2018, 12:28:55 AM
Hellraiser was a groundbreaking horror movie for its time which was a welcome alternative to the myriad of cheap 80's slasher films that continued to clog up the horror pipeline.
